Usher and his wife, Tameka Foster, welcomed their new born baby at 9.55pm on Monday evening.

The RnB superstar’s new arrival, a baby boy, has been named Usher Raymond V.

Raymond is the singer’s surname, who himself is the fourth Usher Raymond in the family. So for those who thought “V” might have been a crazy middle name, I’m sorry to disappoint.

Usher said in a statement released Wednesday November 28, “We are so happy and proud of our beautiful son. What a blessing!”

Usher’s son is named Usher Raymond V

Ben Elton, acclaimed British novelist and playwright, has revealed some of the names in his latest book, Blind Faith.

Elton, who made his name in comedy, has taken a turn for the serious with his new publication. However, as he told The Age, it does still skirt around less serious topics including recent trends in ridiculous baby names.

Barbieheart, Gucci KitKat and Caitlin Happymeal are just some of the stars of the novel.

Ben Elton

“I called someone Gucci (in the book) and then on telly the next day there was a girl called Gucci.

“In Europe there are laws against giving kids a stupid name and a lot of people say that that’s outrageous.

“I actually think there is some justification for it … people putting their own pretensions onto another human being, it’s disgusting … I reserve the right to violent rhetoric against (taking) some indulgent designer product, which is a symbol of reckless expenditure, and imposing it on a child.”

GazetteLive has a charming story from the North of England about a mother who went into labour on Remembrance Sunday (November 11th).

The mother, Nicola Dunning, spent most of the 11th in labour and gave birth to her baby early on Monday morning.

Poppy

Initially expecting a son, the couple’s boy names were blown out the window when their baby daughter was born.

Considering the significance of the day, they settled on the name Poppy.

“My waters broke at around 2am on the Sunday morning, so we thought she must definitely be on her way. We went to James Cook University Hospital, but they told us to come back when my contractions were stronger,” said Nicola.

Nicola returned to the hospital a few hours later and following a 14-hour labour - her 8lb 6oz baby daughter arrived.

She said: “I’d been kind of convinced that I was going to have a baby boy, so we had picked out names for a boy.

“But then in the hospital when I had to think of girl’s names I thought of the name Poppy, which I thought would be nice with it just having been Remembrance Sunday.”

Elisabeth Rohm: Baby name Easton (eOnline)

Elisabeth Rohm, former Law & Order actress, has told People about her bizarre baby name dream.

Rohm, due to give birth in April, has made a u-turn from her original name choice following a moment of late-night inspiration.

“In the dream I was picking her up from a friend’s house, and she wouldn’t respond to her name, Grace,” said the 34-year-old actress, who is engaged to entrepreneur Ron Wooster, 40.

“Finally I said, ‘Easton?’ and she turned around and said, ‘Yes Mommy?’ We were leaning towards [naming the baby] Grace but in the end decided to give her the name she asked for,” says Rohm.

At Bodog, a popular online betting site, there are a whole array of bets available relating to Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s unborn baby. Girl or boy? Born in May or April? Born in the first or second half of the month? These are just some of the questions that, if you answer correctly, could earn a decent return.

So what baby name choices are being touted as contenders by the gambling giant?

Boys

  • Marco
  • Antonio
  • Felipe
  • Enrique
  • Ben
  • Sean

Girls

  • Maria
  • Rosario
  • Selena
  • Guadalupe (Jennifer’s mum)
  • Guillermina (Marc’s mum)
  • Lynn

You can see that most of these names have a Latino feel - unsurprising considering the parents’ backgrounds.

If we take a look at the odds on offer, then we can say that according to Bodog, its likely that J.Lo will give birth to baby girl Maria next April. We’ll see!

Actress Milla Jovovich, best known for her starring role in the Resident Evil movie franchise, gave birth to a baby girl this Saturday according to sources at USmagazine.com.

The new arrival is the first for Milla and her fiancé Paul Anderson, who have reportedly settled on the name Ever Gabo Anderson. This first name hasn’t ever ranked in the top 1,000 names, either in the US or UK.

We have no word yet on the pronunciation of the name - it could be EV uh, or E vuh. The latter would not be so unusual, as it has the same sound as Eva. The former makes it a plain dictionary name!

Apparently, “everything went real smooth”, with the couple now looking to plan their wedding.
