David Coulthard and his fiancée Karen Minier welcomed their first baby boy last Friday.

Dayton Minier Coulthard was three weeks premature and weighed in at 2.8 kilos.

“I was incredibly lucky to be a Grand Prix driver for 15 years, something I could only dream of as a wee boy,” said David.  “But nothing compares to his birth and winning 13 races seems completely insignificant in comparison.”

Young Dayton may well have a bright racing future ahead of him.  Not only does he bear the same initials (DC) as his father, but his name has links to the racing fraternity.  The Daytona 500 is a legendary Nascar race in the United States, and the word is strongly associated with motorsport.  With Daytona being a girl’s name, Dayton was the obvious choice!

John or Peter. So it’s a Peter Pan thing.”So we’ve got to call her John. ‘Shi, do you want …’ – ‘John. I’m John.’ And then I’ll say, ‘John, would you like some orange juice?’ And she goes, ‘No!’ So, you know, it’s just that kind of stuff that’s cute to parents, and it’s probably really obnoxious to other people.”Will this finally stop celebrities using dumb names?  The answer is a resounding ‘no’.
