Baby named ‘Zealand-New’
3 comments | January 21, 2009 | Filed under: Names in the news | Written by: LukeHere’s another strange baby name – a new born girl was this month named Zealand-New.
The girl’s grandmother Sharron stumbled upon the name when searching through name possibilities. “I was fiddling around and it was something different to say it back to front,” she said.
The full name is Zealand-New Sharron Phyllis Atareta.
Other names on the shortlist were Sequoia and Tuscahne. What do you think – did they make the right choice?

Posted by sarah on May 11, 2009 at 6:29 pmThis is an awful name: it can only be a pathetic joke. This woman clearly hasn’t stopped to think about the child for a moment. People with this sort of mentality shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near children. Maybe she was looking for the most wierd name she could dream up because someone named her ‘Sharron’ (which is a mispelling of the overly common name, Sharon).
