Antigone is an uncommon baby girl’s name of Greek origin. In Greek mythology, Antigone was the daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta. When her brother, Polynikes, died in battle she opposed her uncle Kreon by insisting on burying the body in an honourable way. The story inspired many writers, composers and painters.
