Gregory Peck (1916-2003) is most famous for his role as Atticus Finch in “To Kill a Mockingbird” and earned him the Oscar for Best Actor in 1962. He was especially popular from the 1940s-1960s, and had many memorable roles throughout his career. Gregory comes from a Greek word meaning ‘Sentry’. It was introduced to England by the pope St Gregory the Great and has been popular since the Norman Conquest.
