Rita Hayworth (1918-1987) was an American actress and her career was at its peak in the 1940s. She is perhaps best known for her performance in the film “Gilda”, as well as “Cover Girl”. Rita is a feminine name with two separate origins. It is used by Hindu parents and comes from a Sanskrit name meaning virtuous. However is has also been found for centuries throughout Europe as a pet form of Margarita, the Latin form of Margret. The name Margarita means ‘Pearl’ in Latin.
