About AnabelleGo back to names list
Anabelle is a spelling variation of Annabel, which is a feminine name derived from the Latin ‘Amabilis’, said to mean ‘Loveable’. It could also have come about as a compound name, having the meaning of both the names involved. Anna means ‘God Favours’ and Belle means ‘Beauty’, and combining the two the meaning could be along the lines of ‘God Chosen Beauty’. However Annabel has more of a claim to originality, as its use has been found to predate the use of the name Anna.
