Jimmy Kimmel Opens Up About Parenting

Jimmy Kimmel isn’t a new father, but it’s been a while and many things have changed in the 20 years or so since he’s had his son, Kevin, 22, and daughter Katie, 25, from his previous marriage to Gina Kimmel.

In an interview with People Magazine’s Editorial Director, Jess Cagle, the talk show host chatted about the milestones he and his wife, Molly McNearney, are striving for with Jane, their two-year-old.

“We’re potty training her right now. And maybe this is some kind of karmic punishment for my time on ‘The Man Show’, but she wants to take her potty on the trampoline,” Jimmy said. He was part of a Comedy Central series in the early 2000’s which showed a woman wearing revealing clothing as she was jumping around on the trampoline in slow-motion.

“And she’ll only go to the potty on the trampoline, which is insane, but that’s her. She’s a weird kid” Jimmy said.

Jimmy also said that at this junction in his life, he is a more patient and confident father, since he wasn’t financially unstable when he was raising Kevin and Katie.

“I’m more patient, I’m more confident. I didn’t make any money when I was in radio and I got fired a lot,” he explains. “It’s stressful enough to get fired and have to move to another town, but when you have little kids, it’s even more stressful. So it’s easier this time around, and I’m glad because I’m busy.”

Jimmy also revealed that Jane is rather curious about a grown-up drink…coffee!

“She also likes coffee,” he jokes. “Not real coffee. She sees my wife, Molly, and I drinking coffee in the morning. And so I’ll make her, like, a foamed milk and I’ll put it in a coffee cup and then she has her pinky out.”
