About Walter WhiteGo back to names list
Walter White (Bryan Cranston) is the protagonist of “Breaking Bad”. He is a chemist and former chemistry teacher who, after being diagnosed with lung cancer, starts making crystal meth to pay for his treatments and provide for his family in case he dies. He is both protagonist and antagonist at times, and becomes a darker, more hardened criminal towards the end of the show. The constituents of the name Walter are German, although the name is Old French. The name was brought to Britain by the Normans, where it forced aside the native version of the name, Wealdhere.
